How to work the inbox and reply to conversations

Use this guide when your channels are connected and you want to operate conversations from one workspace instead of hopping between apps.

What the inbox gives you

The inbox combines:

  • a conversation list
  • the active message thread
  • contact context for the person behind that conversation

Basic workflow

  1. Open Inbox.
  2. Select a conversation from the list.
  3. Read the current thread before replying.
  4. Use the contact sidebar to understand who the person is and what state they are in.
  5. Reply in the thread or take the next action from the contact context.

What to look at before replying

  • lifecycle state
  • active enrollments
  • recent communication
  • tasks or appointments already tied to the contact

Good operating habits

  • keep the reply and the next action together when possible
  • avoid sending a sales message to someone who is already Active
  • use the contact sidebar when the thread alone does not explain what should happen next
